Social Media day

I have been meaning to get to this post before now but… you know how that goes. So I attended the Mashable Social Media day conference that was hosted in Rexburg Idaho, on the BYU Idaho Campus. I will have to say that I learned some interesting facts and tips that I had absolutely no idea about. Of coarse I have herd of Twitter and Facebook just like the rest of you, the thing I didn’t know was how to really make them work for me. I learned that both sites are considered a push/pull content site. Meaning that the content that is listed is either pushing something, such as a product, or for someone to find something ,such as a product.

I also learned that most people use these tools incorrect as I did. The best way to get feedback and results is to interact with others in an unprofessional manner at first. The reasoning behind this is to establish some sort of personal relationship. Once you work on the personal relationship you can then start to push a product or service. The wrong way to do it is as most people do. Pushing their stuff way to hard and in your face. If you pay attention you will see what I mean. Plenty of people post adds such as this “Many people search for that once in a life time opportunity, this is it, don’t miss out: http://bit.ly/5yluCl” now to some this may be appealing but studies show that most people need more then that. The best way to get lots of followers and dedicated consumers is to help out, answer questions and give tips and pointers. You should be sending more reply s than anything else. Once you become noticed as a helpful benefit then you will be taken more seriously and you will have a bigger impact once it comes time to market your business.

Thats all I have for now, until next time try some of those things and see how they work for you.
